Experience the opulence and extravagance of one of the most iconic French Riviera villas by staying at the former summer home of Karl Lagerfeld. The Villa La Vigie in Mone Carlo, Monaco was built in 1902 under the Belle Epoque style of design and was used as an observation post during the Second World War. However, it has managed to escape the conflict relatively unscathed and remained a beacon of visual pleasure on the Riviera for several decades after it was built.

The property, which has been recently renovated, boasts stunning wall paneling, columns, and influential crown molding throughout the estate. It has six bedrooms, four bathrooms, two dressing rooms, and a billiards room, complete with a 2,500 square foot terrace that overlooks the neighboring Mediterranean Sea. This makes it an excellent spot to take in the sun and sights of the region.

According to AD, those who stay at the property will also be treated to a private lounge tent at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel’s private beach, along with access to their pool and restaurants, and an electric car so that the hotel’s many amenities can be easily reached. The mansion is available to rent for €15,000 (AUD$23,000) per night, with the cost reaching €45,000 (AUD$70,000) in the busiest season.

The former summer home of Karl Lagerfeld, who was an influential fashion designer and ex-Chanel creative director, is a testament to opulence and extravagance at every step. Lagerfeld bought the home in 1988, originally planning to base himself there for some time. Five years down the track, the fashion legend kicked off an iconic tenure at Chanel, choosing to use the downtime to renovate the French villa.
